Job Quality Extends Beyond the Fundamental Aspects of a Job

In today's rapidly changing workforce landscape, the challenge of attracting and retaining a diverse, productive, and engaged team has become increasingly significant. As workers actively seek out quality jobs, it is crucial for companies to prioritize job quality in order to stand out as employers of choice.

Job quality goes beyond the basic elements of a job; it encompasses a combination of key drivers that contribute to each worker's overall employment experience. While factors like pay and benefits are important, there are numerous other aspects that play a crucial role, such as workplace safety and health, the opportunity to have a voice in decision making, scheduling predictability, feeling valued, skills development, and opportunities for advancement. These factors distinguish companies as employers of choice, setting them apart from the competition.

Tackling the Obstacle

To address this challenge, America Works and the MEP Network have joined forces to develop a comprehensive Job Quality survey. This survey consists of 32 simple questions that can be answered in less than 5 minutes. These questions are designed based on the 8 drivers of job quality outlined in the Job Quality Toolkit. Extensive empirical studies and real-life experiences have demonstrated the significance of these drivers to varying degrees across different employee groups, organizations, and industries.

Completing this survey is the first step toward enhancing worker satisfaction, engagement, and retention within your organization. It is crucial to truly understand the needs, expectations, and desires of your current and future workforce before making any decisions regarding necessary changes. Once you have completed the survey, we strongly encourage you to reach out to your local MEP Center for assistance in analyzing the results and exploring the potential strategies and actions provided in the Job Quality Toolkit.

To ensure accurate feedback, each question in the survey should be rated on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 signifies a low score (indicating strong disagreement) and 5 signifies a high score (indicating strong agreement).
